Description
Allan Ainsworth was born and raised in Fenny Stratford and, apart from a brief interlude in Amersham, has lived all his life in the area. He has spent his career in the conveyancing of properties and is today a practicing Licensed Conveyancer in Milton Keynes.
Now close to retirement, he has set down these anecdotes drawn from his varied career.
He started his early career with Buckinghamshire County Council and as a young man worked for the Milton Keynes Development Corporation in the foundation years of Milton Keynes. Thus he witnessed at first hand those historic years which began the trans-formation of North Buckinghamshire.
Circumstances took him to work in Northampton and a commercial property practice in London, before he was able to work again in Milton Keynes, this time in private practice.
Allan is a natural story teller, and although the buying and selling of property might seem to offer unpromising material, he is able to discover a human tale at the root of every transaction. Allan is very interested in people and his eye for detail, coupled with an excellent memory, has produced this fascinating collection of tales. Friends, colleagues and clients come into the spotlight and their humanity, as well as the author’s, is paramount in these anecdotes.
The general reader will find much of interest in these pages but those who know the Milton Keynes area and its history will find many of these stories fascinating.
