Description
Mick Shaw joined Thames Valley Police on the 8th October 1979, retiring after just over 32 years in 2011. He served at Newport Pagnell, Wolverton and Central Milton Keynes Police Stations. 17 of those years were spent as Village Constable for Hanslope, Castlethorpe and Great Linford, which included the rural area around the three villages. His interest in police history started in late 1994 when he was asked by the headmaster of Hanslope school to contribute to a project for the Parish Council centenary. After retirement he has been able to devote more time to researching the stories of our early policemen. This collection presents some fascinating accounts of policing in the very different worlds of the 19th and 20th centuries.
